Banner making is not a black art or rocket science even though some people would like you to think it is. Banner making is actually fairly simple and almost everyone with any kind of graphics program can make a website banner or advertising banner for use on their website.
I really meant that about graphics programs. You can use the antique Microsoft Paint program for making banners if that’s all you have. Matter of fact I made more than a few banners using that program. Way back in the day there wasn’t much else to use unless you bought a graphics program.
Because I was making lots of banners I eventually bought a much better piece of software for making banners. I have zero art skills of any kind. I have zero color skills of any kind. Yet despite the lack of those two, which one would think highly important for making effective banner ads, it hasn’t mattered at all.
Evan an idiot like me with no graphics arts skills at all can make banners. That’s why I told you above it’s not rocket science or a black art. Everyone tells you how hard it is because they want to sell you some whoopty doo amazing banner maker that will have you rich in two days. I hate to break it to you but that just ain’t gonna happen.
If you have a graphics program you should be able to create a new file in the exact size you wish. To keep it simple lets just use 468×60 as the dimensions of the banner you will be making. Then you might want to put a picture in your banner so go find the one you want and ope in it your graphics program. Cut out the part you want to use and resize it to 60 pixels tall and then paste it into your banner where you want it.
After you have that done save the banner you are making as banner1 so you can reuse it. We’re going to keep all the banners to use as templates. Then if you want to add text use your graphics text tool to put the text in. Set it to the color you want and insert the text. When making banners you may have to makes some changes but you’ll figure it out.
If you want different colored banners then you should set the background color first and save each different color as a different template. It will save time in the long run. Now this is a pretty simple banner but with the right colors, pic and words it can be a high CTR banner and that’s what you want.
Banner making is that easy so anyone can do it, even you.
