Banners Work

Pop Up Banners

Pop Up Banners still work and will probably always work. Yep, surfers profess to hate pop up banners and many places including Microsoft and Google have pop up blockers in their tool bars and browsers. There are also a ton of much smaller places that also make popup blockers.

Pop up banners are still working despite all the pop up blockers around. I wonder why that is because all the guru’s have declared banners and particularly pop up banners as being dead. Are they trying to get all that great pop up traffic for themselves?

Just like banners, the demise of pop up banners isn’t even close to correct. When surfers and site visitors stop clicking on banner and pop ups then they will be dead. However right now they are alive, well and making money for a lot of people on the internet.

There are a lot of big name websites using popups and making money with them. I get so tired of that Netflix banner that pops up behind everything. It’s easy to get rid of but it sure annoys me when it does pop up. I’m sure you know that the people running Netflix and the other big name places using popups are smart people and wouldn’t be using that form of advertising if it didn’t work. Seems to me that’s pretty much a no brainer part of the equation. Advertising can be expensive and companies aren’t going to waste money with advertising ideas that don’t make money for them.

Now ask yourself this question. “If so many of the big name companies are using pop up banners why aren’t I using them?” Using pop ups in the correct way can get a great CTR and using them in the wrong way can drive surfers away. Most people have little problem with polite pop ups that don’t keep popping up more popups.

If you want to use them on your site, in my opinion there are only a few reasons to do them, they should contain an offer that’s next to irresistible, a way to get something they are interested in very cheap or for free and to direct them to a site they need to see. When you have a pop up that helps your surfers you’ll do well and get few complaints.

A lot of places like to leave you with no controls on the pop up banners on their sites but I don’t like that. I believe you need scrolling at all times. I can’t count the number of time popups have been used and I couldn’t get to the link to click on it. That’s a total waste as they had an interested customer but couldn’t make any money because I couldn’t scroll or even make the popup full screen. Always use a scroll bar or at least don’t take the scroll bar option away.

Unless you are preloading your pop up banner you don’t want the file size to be very large. If it’s to large it will interfere with your site loading and make the surfers you are trying to sell to, angry. That’s not quite what you want to do.

The best banner ads and pop up advertising banners are the ones that sell or at least get clicked on. It’s pretty cheap to make banners if you make your own and anyone can make a banner nowdays. You can also get the code for the pop up banners just by doing a search for it. Most are in Java and should work for you almost anywhere you use them.

Pop up banners are very cost effective and are one of the most inexpensive methods of getting attention to your website or product. Just remember the few simple things you learned here about file size and not to pop up banners one after another and you will do just fine with your website banners and pop ups.
