Make a banner

Make a banner and save yourself some money. Cheap website banner designs that you make yourself are all over the internet. Now I can make a banner in about 10 minutes or so but I’ve been making banners for my websites for 15 years now. It’s not all that hard to do and if you know what you are doing self made banners can work even better than those you pay the big bucks for.

Website banner designs are pretty standard as to sizes and as to where the banners should be placed on your website. This is not an art nor is it rocket science. What works and what doesn’t work can be figured out using scientific methods. Don’t let the word scientific scare you when it comes time to make your own website banners tho.

Scientific proof can be as simple as looking at your stats to see which banners generate the most clicks and which banners don’t. It’s proof of what works to get clicks and what doesn’t. You want website banners that get lots of clicks. Watch your stats and stop doing what isn’t working.

When you want to make banners remember than website banner designs are also very individual and there are millions of different banners out there. Obviously not all of them work but they are there anyway.

There are few rules to banner design but there are some things you need to pay attention to for your banners to be as effective as you want them to be.

* Colors – The colors used in your banner making efforts should be pleasing and appropriate. If you’re trying to sell food or recipes on your site puke green will not be a good color. Check out other sites in the same niche and see what the predominant banner colors are and then try those first.

* Words – Use words on your banners that make sense to the people you are trying to attract or sell to. I always put the search term I’m targeting on my banners. Also a good idea to keep the words on your banner to 8 or less.

* Pictures – Adding a pretty, smiling girl to a banner can make it more noticeable and people are more likely to click on it. However make sure it’s an appropriate use of the image. You don’t want a hot chick on a banner for funeral homes.

* Animation – Animated banners have been proven to work better than static banners but if the banner has weird colors or the animation is really fast or jerky it can be bad. Another thing to watch for with animated banners is try to use only one per page. I’m sure you been to pages on the net where you ran into a lot of animated banners and instead of attracting you to click what they really did was make you hit your back button as fast as you could. To much animation is a bad thing.

After you have the website banners made, test them out. See which get the most clicks and then make some more like that with simple variations and see which works best.

When you know which banners get the best CTR start checking for which banners lead to the most sales. It will surprise you to find out that the banner that gets the most clicks and the banners that generate the most sales aren’t the same.

Those are two different uses for banners. One drives traffic with lots of clicks and the other drives higher sales but gets fewer clicks. Remember that little tip. While this may seem complicated to you, right now, it’s not that bad. It’s still simply keep stats of the clicks and income your banners are generating and then doing more of what works.

When you make a banner remember the things above and your website banner designs will have a lot better chance of working well for you.
