Banner ads are the easiest way to get your site noticed. Some say banners are the most popular thing on the net but others say text link ads outnumber banner ads by quite aways. Whichever is the most prevalent doesn’t really matter as banner ads will do the job you need done.
There are all kinds of banners seen on the internet and they advertise anything and everything. Sometimes things we want and most times things we don’t care about. However if you have a website banner ads can bring you the targeted traffic you need.
If you’ve been around the world wide web as long as I have it’s almost a yearly refrain, “Banner ads are dead, long live the new replacement.” I like this one best tho. “No one clicks on banners and everyone hates them so don’t use them.” Banners still work and will always work to one degree or another.
Flash banners are also becoming very popular with many sites and webmasters. They are also easy to make and offer the ability to interact with surfers which static jpg or animated gif banners can’t do. Just keep in mind that flash banner ads can get quite large for file size and can slow your website down a ton if you let them get to big.
When you put your banner ads on other websites you’ll have to pay them for the privilege. Costs vary widely and depend on many different things.
What can make a difference in the price of banner ads?
There are even more variations that can make a difference in the price you might pay. You’ll just have to check around to see what’s the best deal you can find. Yes, you can even find places that will put your banners up for free. Just do a search on banner exchanges and you’ll find a ton of places.
However, a note of caution. Google has some funny ideas about what they think is a good thing to do and what isn’t. Banner farms are one of the things they think aren’t so very good.
It’s a good idea to think about paying for your ads as you’ll get better placement and more than likely a lot better quality of traffic. Free is nice but if they don’t buy anything it’s a waste of time.
One other thing you want to do with your ads and banners is to keep great stats on which banner is working best, which site sends the most traffic, which banner converts to a sale the best, which sites send the most converting customers. Without good stats you can’t tell which site or banner is working the best and which ones you need to drop or redo.
It’s the internet so advertising with all kinds of ads is going to work but you should never sell well designed and targetted banner ads short as they do work well.
